Seychelles Eco-Friendly Marathon 2014
The annual Seychelles Eco-Friendly Marathon took place yesterday. Heralded as a great success, this year’s event was the biggest in the marathon’s 7 year history, with 1464 participants from 35 countries taking part.
Early morning the atmosphere was electric as participants, officials and supporters gathered at the Beau Vallon Promenade for the start of the race, with the serious runners partaking in the marathon and half-marathon divisions setting off at 7am, whilst the fun-runners competing in the various 5km and 10km events taking off at 8am.

From Austria to Poland and Jordan to Japan, 35 countries were represented in the menagerie of faces and feet that set off along the course. Trailing behind Seychelles with 890 participants were Korea with 43, Britain with 32 and South Africa with 25. Denmark, Uganda, Norway, Canada and Slovakia are just some of the many other nationalities that took part in this year’s event.
